I was instantly drawn to Sarah Lucas‘s use of bright bold colours juxtaposition of domestic paraphernalia and repurposed objects which have been manipulated. I think the vast scale Lucas showcase her work on is very impacting to the audience objects are nearly arranged and suggest that aspect of a figure within the works due to the cylindrical, long phallic like objects which are presented with in a pale muted colour palette. I think this adds sophistication to the work when presented on bright coloured backgrounds, allowing the audience members to focus on the main aspect of the piece. I particularly drawn to ‘au naturel’ 1994 from the wide for righty of archived works from Lucas. This being due to the work being purely found objects and it not imitating or conveying stereotypes of ‘sculpture’. I think the composition of the slumped mattress inhabits aspect of human human being propped up in bed, are use of fruit add colour and tone to the work to, Lucas further in bed in phallic like objects to the peace inhabiting the subject matter and changing traditional views on sexuality gender and identity.

I like how Lucas is work when using found objects and domestic paraphernalia are presented with an orderly format, this is something that I would like to do within my work focusing on colour and how colour connotes the different emotions to the object, thinking why is the object in that colour and what emotions does it suggest. I like the variety and Lucas is craft of some sculptures being stopped and laid upon each other and some lined and ordered. I would like to Juxtapose shape and size of objects within my own craft and using domestic appliances but don’t necessarily relate to each other. I think this would be particularly interesting as it is allow objects to develop a secondary meaning. The forms within Lucas work are particularly eye-catching and thought provoking and suggest the structure of a human. I like how Lucas is staffed and widened certain materials to create interesting silhouette within the work and it’s an aspect I would like to inhabit within my own craft, pushing materials to there limit through dipping, stuffing and binding. Interpret Lucas‘s work as the imbalance and re-purpose of previous lovers she has had, this being due to the phallic like objects which have been can talk to the rats and bind it into an orthodox positions. I see the dark contrasting clips the sculptures are being set on as Coffens symbolising the relationship between the two being over. I also interpret the works as colourful insides of a human being. Lucas glamorising the digestive system and presenting it with a new subject matter.

Lucas has inspired me to contort and re-purpose the objects within orderly format. I would like to experiment with colour. particularly neutrals and mount them onto coloured backgrounds when presenting them. I would like to properly fix the objects together and juxtapose them having objects balancing and document the decay of there process when failing or dismantling, experimenting with movement and motion. I think it will be interesting to experiment with the textures of objects and contrasting bulbous shapes with Thin, smaller objects creating detail within the work.
